About Me
Hi, I’m Bree Peterson, and I created My Recovery Blog to help people navigate recovery with practical tools, inspiration, and real-life guidance.
Here, you’ll find evidence-based strategies, recovery lifestyle tips, inspiring stories, and resources to support your journey—one day at a time.
Anyway, this blog is a small piece of my recovery. Or, maybe a big piece. It’s something I built to stay grounded, give back, and hopefully help someone else who’s in recovery and walking a similar path.
Recovery didn’t come perfectly for me. It came messy, uncomfortable, awkward, etc. and full of moments where I wasn’t sure I could keep going. But I did. And over time, things started to change. Everything started to get better – my mindset, my habits, and the way I live my life. I attribute a lot of this to NA.
What’s helped me, by far is, “the rooms” (NA Meetings). I did not really believe in NA in the beginning, but I embraced it with an open mind and quickly saw the benefit and transformative experiences that NA offers.
Why I Started This Blog
When I first got sober, I was constantly searching for real, practical advice. I wanted to hear things that actually helped in everyday life. Not just inspiration, but tools.
What do you do when cravings hit out of nowhere?
How do you rebuild your routine?
What actually helps in early sobriety?
This blog is my answer to those questions.
I share:
- Things that have helped me stay sober
- Simple habits that make recovery easier
- Honest thoughts about the ups and downs
- Products and tools I genuinely find useful
What You’ll Find Here
This blog focuses on real-life recovery. Nothing complicated. Nothing fake.
You’ll find posts about:
- Coping with cravings
- Building better daily habits
- Finding support and staying accountable
- Early sobriety essentials
- Small things that make a big difference
Some posts include product recommendations (like sobriety coins, holders, or everyday tools). If I share something, it’s because I actually think it’s useful – not just to sell something.
My Approach to Recovery
I keep things simple:
- One day at a time
- Stay honest
- Keep showing up
- Don’t overcomplicate it
Recovery isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about not giving up.
If You’re New Here
If you’re early in recovery, struggling, or even just thinking about getting sober… you’re not alone.
Seriously.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to keep going.
What Help
Got it. Here is the text you can copy and paste directly into your About Me page editor (or a text block if you’re using a builder). It’s written to be personal, direct, and helpful.
What Helped Me The Most
When I first started this journey, I felt completely lost. I was looking for answers but didn’t know where to find a foundation that actually felt solid. It wasn’t until I found Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and started attending meetings that things finally began to click.
Going to meetings and hearing others share my exact struggles—and more importantly, how they overcame them—gave me the hope I needed to keep going. It was the first time I felt like I wasn’t alone in the “fog.”
If you are looking for a place to start or just need to understand the principles behind living clean, I can’t recommend the NA Basic Text enough. It’s the core literature of the program, filled with the recovery principles and personal stories that helped me reshape my perspective.
